OMG!

lol. I have never heard a piece with so many harmonies. you certainly have good experience adding hamronics. however the start was a bit boring.BUT it did get good.
The synth used aswell takes up WAY to much room in this piece. reducing the melodies so you can hear the drums would be good. because drums in dance are just as important. You have added so many synth accompanyments to this piece, it is hard to distinguish a clear melody.
Your concept is good. and love your interpretation of this song. but i really feel it has too much all at once. you have enough content to stretch it out into a longer more interesting piece. good effort dude! and well done!

SFaPiL2 responds:

Hmm *thinkative*... good to know. This is an old song of mine, but it's still good to know what a possible "harmonics-over-limit" sounds like.

"reducing the melodies so you can hear the drums would be good"... lol... trust me, the drum pattern was too boring to listen to ;o), but I understand what you mean: The drum-beat should lead the way to the song, not vice-versa.

I honestly wouldn't have given this "song" half a rat's ass and am quite suprised of its 4/5 score ;o). Personally I would've given it a 2or3/5.

Thank you once more for the review.

lol. wow!

first. a synth! not sure, i think it is the guitar they talk about. it is VERY overpowering. perhaps a little subtlety would be nice. some nice easy going slides to sex the guitar up a bit would work to give it that movement and mood. Your drums arent quite as powerful as they could be either, however the rhythm they play is more than suitable.
I think the bass is great. slap bass by nature is hilarious sounding lol, but i can take it seriously in this composition. Your square (i think) synth plays a nice little tune.

The harmonics in this piece are well fitted and gel well to give that overall powerful in space feel. like you have been told, reverb will add depth to your instruments.
And i know it is a little corny, but could i advise some kind of a spacey jingling synth. one that plays a twinkly little sound, i dont mean a bell. this could be representitive of the stars within space.
Also add some wacky sound effects. i think to keep this piece interesting it could have more ideas added in.

BUT ANYWAYS! i like what you have here. it is absolutely splendid. and i think i can safely say you have definately earned the 10 and 5. :D:D:D
stalagmite. :D:D:D

SFaPiL2 responds:

"i think [...] the guitar [...] is VERY overpowering.": True. I noticed it the day after the project was over and done with (after listening to it 30 times while making it, my head was a mush I could barely judge if the melody was good or not).

"some [...] slides to sex the guiar": I wanted to, but I had a hard time trying to find a way to do it. It wouldn't work the same way as with the other presets, so I just gave up.

"Your drums arent quite as powerful as they could be": hmm... this makes me wonder... how does a drum beat become "powerful"? Maybe I'll make another experimental song one day to make some tests.

"could i advise some kind of a spacey jingling synth": hmm... another interesting suggestion. Some thoughts came into my mind of what I could've done with them.

"wacky sound effects": NO! I'm afraid of using them not only because they'd make a song go from serious to ridiculous, but also because the sound effects are usually very common (making the space theme a little bit of a cliché).

Thank you for making me deserve the 10 and 5 [even if imo 10=without flaws... which it's not :oP ]. When a score is justified it holds a huge value to me.

Cheers

LOL

1st Review!

yayness. well done here. truly mesmorising piece. vey enchanting. has a midnight moon feel to it. I can propably say the only problem really is the Pitch bending instrument. where it is a FAB idea. it needs a little equalising because it overpowers a tad.
i think although it has a basic chord pattern it is executedin a pretty nice way. its a very "pretty" song LOL. i think you need a little more "bottom end" stuff. maybe some lower strings... bass? even a light snare brushing to help establish a smoother rhythm.... if you want i mean. it doesnt NEED percussion at all. 9/10 5/5
P.s. if you want i can download it, make some keyboarded additions and send it to you so you can hear what i personally would have added?
or not. LOL.
take care and keep it up!

LeviaNeo responds:

Thanks for the review, Yeah. I can't get the pitch bend to work (I just found out how to do it lol) anyways. That would be helpful on the piano part. I can't do piano, rather, it just doesn't sound right when I add it. Thanks again.

this is fuckin smart.

This is a great concept. and for 8bit it has alot of cool melody and some lovely little harmonic tweaks. Very short though. a longer one would be nice. Well done on your first 8 bit! keep it up!

chubby-chobby responds:

Not my first 8-bit or loop actually!
I called it my first loop as i beleive it had a childish charm to it.
Yeah, i just get bored of creating things sometimes, so i just give up on making them any longer.
Thanks for the review!
