your vocals.....

they do not blend as well as they could.... mesh them together more using a spacey reverb. same for the violin... or have it slide from one note to another, for a more organic sounding one.
None the less. this is YOUR song and you have put your own ideas out here for us random plebs. thank you. and i particularly like this one. :D

Hades responds:

I'm really glad you found this one to your liking because it seems to be my most commonly overlooked song. Don't really know why. :P I understand what you've mentioned about the vocals and the strings, I guess they really could be a bit more... connected, but I guess that at the time, I didn't find it a problem that needed to be dealt with. Again, thanks for the review, I really appreciate your support!

how did you do that?

is that a live guitar or digital. because its freekin AWESOME! it reminds me of credit sequences on fighting games.
Haryuken! hut hut hut! (ryu)
AAaaaeeeeyyyY!!!!!!!"Chibby" (alice from bloody roar) god she was a pain in the ass.

Hades responds:

That, my friend, is 100% synthetic guitar. Sadly, I haven't yet found the money to invest into actual guitar recording software (but I am kinda curious about that Guitar Rig ;D)), so this is the alternative I have to deal with. It's a free VSTi that I found on the net, along with some extra distortion and EQing. XD

i see spyro.

spyro is running around looking for that extra gem... that one last gem that will open the final secret room! he searches, burning all the sheep and allowing his cannible dragonfly friend to consume every god given creature, just for the sake of changing to a brighter colour.
it reminds me of the hours of annoying repetition of running in circles on spyro. lol. but thats not your fault! this piece is lovely and smooth. a real easy listen, but quite basic for you.
Thanks.

Hades responds:

I fully agree with you on the "basic" part, this song is pretty simple, especially due to the fact that it was made in just a few hours of work. Besides, at the time, I didn't really have a large selection of sounds, so some things I probably would've done with this song were actually impossible. :) Still, I'm glad you liked it despite it's simplicity!

you write yes?

a writer aswell as a musician eh? your just stocking up the talent now arent you!
Your violins are great, especially great!.
the tin snare gives the piece a real epic sensuality. i am pulled in almost instantly by that beat aswell!
Have you heard of the Didgeridoo? i think you could propably work wonders with that aswell. lol. give it a go. you seem the type who plays a didjeridoo for some reason!
Your harps are very hypnotic, and the repetition of them creates a real sense of distraction and danger. I was so AWARE during this piece, my eye lids are now stuck open. please make a song to reverse the effects! :D thanks for this. :D

Hades responds:

Well, I have to say that the text in the comments is probably my first 'literary work' that turned out the way I wanted it to. XD Yeah, I've heard of the Didgeridoo, in fact, I believe one of my friends owns one, but I can't say I have really thought of trying to play it. I guess it seems too... minimalistic. Thanks for your review, dude, and I sincerely apologize for any eyelid damage the song has caused. ;D

powerful stuff! a real zelda feel to it.

your reverbed square waves are truly epic. your scales and arpeggios are amazing too. you have certainly achieved your desire! again with the harmonious understandings! i am getting jealous!

Hades responds:

Hehe, I'm afraid there are a lot of people on the portal that I'm jealous of when it comes to composing skills, so I believe I can freely say that some would have done it even better. But I must admit I'm quite pleased with how this one turned out. ;D Thanks a lot for your review!

poetic.

lovely choice of instruments chicken. :D i am really pleased with this. I can really sit back and think with this one.
It has a distinctive medievil feel to it.
because its a 3/4 and has a Mandolin or....?????? lol. no its more like a koto i think.
Also. you have a very powerful understanding of the harmonic melody. you really empowered this piece with the epic flute as well. if you like... have a listen to my piece..."lost" for karen. it features a pan pipe! horay for woodwind!

Hades responds:

Woodwind instruments are really an awesome way to bring some emotion into songs, but I'm afraid that certain styles simply don't support them (in the lack of a better word). When aiming for a powerful feel, woodwinds are probably the best choice (besides stringed instruments, obviously).

Yes, I would most certainly connect the medieval feeling with the 3/4 and the mandolin-esque sound, but I have to admit, it was no accident. I was aiming for that exact feel right from the start, so there's a good reason for those two things. And I'll make sure to check out that song of yours, as soon as I find the time!

Thanks!

this is good

It is very difficult isnt it. LOL. your very very good at accents. i cant tell which is yours! but some of your british ones are a bit poor. i hope your not british heehee :D

GregoryGrub responds:

You didnt like my David Firth impression 'blasted tapes"? Well, funny thing is, I had recording issues with all of my british voices so I had shit to pick from, so they have a muffled sound as well. I probably shouldnt have done my Pink Floyd impression, that was weak, I'll admit. But I do a variety of british. What about my british gangster and my british cockney woman? Are those are poor too? Eh, well, in the future if I ever do a animation with a British accent or if I make another audio submission I'll look you up and ask ya again. But yes, my ukraine and spanish are stronger. I'll work on my british more now, just because you said that. Thanks. It's good to know what needs work. But the fact that you said "I hope your not british" makes me think I got something going for me, right?

weird lol

very interesting idea! OUCH! sorry, i just heard the explosion.
Why did i type ouch.
yes...the drums are good, i lick them lots. :b
the strings are nice sounding, but quite basic. mind you, i am sure if you face death you arent concerned by chord patterns.
It has truly made me think this piece. thanks.

thefatalaskan responds:

sorry for the explosion, yeah you are right about the repetition of the strings, it is pretty basic. But then again i kinda threw it all togethor in like 20 min... so heh heh :)
Actually if i was facing death i would prolly crap myself and start screaming for my mommy, .... im not a hardass....

very good my friend.

very dramatic. but the instrument that plays the same one note, sounds like it is played at random. however the percussion has a great feel and the sitar is excellent. i vote 5/5. 10/10 for capturing this so well. :D

rockyace42 responds:

Thanks, man!

i think the beat is samba based.

the instrument is slightly oriental sounding. the percusion is samba. a valiant attempt buddy, but to improve perhaps add more instruments, and make it longer. the shika shika beat gets you jiggy then you stop all of a sudden! leaving me doing a shimmy to silence. do you know how embarasnig that is. LOL. :D:D:D
Not alot of effort i think, but the idea is their. work on it and it will be just as awesome as my dancin. :D

rockyace42 responds:

I will try Stag, but you're dancing is pretty damn good from what I've heard!

i love cartoons more than you. they're totally Bonerific :D:D:D
